I had just moved the stuff around the studio
for theumph-teenth time, trying to find the perfect way to
distribute the 50 m2 of concrete and mould, when it occured to me
that Merciless were due to enter studio within a few hours.Since I
wasnґt sure that everything was connected properly I decided to
start recording some Merciless-flavoured deaththrash just to make
sure everything worked outfine. In the middle of recording what
later became "Dead Earth", Dread showed up and asked mewhen the
Merciless would enter Finspеng.I told him about my plans and he
joined in and contributed with lyrics and vocals. After the
completetion of "Dead Earth" we were high on the kicks from a cool
Deaththrash song and jumped right into a Deicide tribute song. We
finished that one off with some hillarious vocal rip-offs and didnґt
think more of it. Then it remains a mystery how these tracks found
their way into the tapetrading scene. I have my suspicions but I
donґt know for sure...who cares..what happened was cool. For some
reason, I cannot remember, we were included on a Close-Up/MNW
albumcalled Extreme Close-Up and after re-recording the
rhythmguitars and remix the whole thing,I dropped it and didn't
think much of it. Then sometime after I moved the studio to ЦrebroI
got the idea to record a few more Infestdead songs, just for the fun
of it. I wrote a few riffs here and there and finally got some space
in-between recordings to finalize this piece of unholy death metal.
Dread joined me for vocalsessions and I remember that we were
hung-over beyond belief after a wet releaseparty from Millencolin
the night before. Anyway, we got the stuff done and I started
shopping. I was not so suprised when Invasion Records and Mr.
Majewski caught my attention and released the "Killing Christ"
mini-album,completed with "Burn Me" off the Xtreme Close-Up
compilation. Since the minialbum was a success and business is
business, I started to work on the first fullenght. My intentions
were to not include any old songs and that all songs had to be
shorter than 2 minutes!! Said and done. Hellfuck was completed after
millions of tiny riffing and editing sessions during
mornings, lunchbreaks and god knows how many late nights. Due to
deadlines and Dreads voice not being able to handle any further
torment, we had to skip like 4 songs that was finished and ready to
slay. I have the guitars recorded on an a DAT tape somewhere and I
suppose the drumming is still somewhere on an ATARI disc. They might
re-surface someday, who knows. One funny anecdote is that Mr.
Majewski had a problem with a title "The Plot to kill Jesus" (Taken
from the holy bible) and without asking (I think) printed it in
reverse on the cover!! I just cannot see how that title can be any
more "dangerous" than the rest??? Once Hellfuck was released I did
care much about the project and went on with my life. I enjoy this
kind of US style death metal and these kind of riffs are easy and
funny to write, so I wasnґt too hard to convince to make yet another
fullenght album. This time around I needed a new challenge. My new
work at a musicshop was a dream for me, there was tons of cool
gadgets to play with, and amps and guitars. I had just recieved a
brand new MAC G3 that was the hottest shit around at the time. I
started writing riffs and did my first all computerized recording
ever. I also did an incredibly stupid mistake and somehow erased all
the files and had to go to a Mac specialist to get them all back.
Lord K of Project Hate came by and helped me arrange one song and
Rob Marcello (now in my 80ґs faveband DANGER DANGER) dropped by for
some first take shredding of worldclass!! I wrote and recorded all
guitars with a 7 string, that was cool and new!!! Dread came by on
several occations and did a fantastic performance and Jesusatan was
born!! And do not ask me why we covered that Deep Purple song. It
sounds just as bad today like before!!! I am happy to finally be
able to give these recordings the sound the deserve. I never paid
much attention to the final reslt of these records, but I did now.
Itґs great to be able to listen to them now without being constantly
reminded of how bad some of my older recordings sounded!! ...and by
the way the title "Fucked By Satan" was invented my Jon Nцdtveidt
R.I.P. It was a workingtitle he just threw at me whn I needed to
write something on the tracksheet... Too good to be wasted!!!
