Memory Garden is a Kumla based doom metal
band, led by vocalist Stefan Berglund and was formed in December
1992. They began their career with some demo and EP releases which
gained the interest of the small Swedish label Heathendoom Music.
They got the chance to release a MCD called "Forever" in 1995 and
their first full-length album entitled "Tides" in 1996. Both were
recorded at the Fredman Studios with Fredrik Norman
Both CD´s were very well
received among the buying public and Memory Garden got
excellent reviews in magazines all over Europe. Excellent guitar
harmonies and the classic clean vocals of Stefan Berglund are the
outstanding trademarks of this highly talented outfit.
In 1996 the band drafted
Fifth Reason and Abstract Algebra guitarist Simon
Johansson. Soon after the release of "Tides" Memory Garden
were contacted & signed by Metal Blade Records.
Their next effort, the
full-length album "Verdict of Posterity", was released in 1998.
Leaving the famous Studio
Fredman behind Memory Garden decided to record "Verdict
of Posterity" at XTC Studios together with producer Mike Wead
(King Diamond / Mercyful Fate etc.) handling the production duties.
Memory Garden
followed up their first Metal Blade release with shows around
Scandinavia and summer festivals including the mighty "Wacken Open
Air" in Germany during the summer of 1999. Having spent the fall of
1999 and the beginning of 2000 writing new material for their
upcoming release, Memory Garden entered their own studio
"Annoying Sound Factory" in February 2000 with Mike Wead once
again in the producer chair. Some of the recording was also done in
Mike’s own studio, Miseria Recording.
The result of their work was
the ten song masterpiece called "Mirage". Memory Garden took
their music back to their roots and made an even heavier and darker
album than "Verdict of Posterity". Combining both bone crushing
riffs with catchy melodies and beautiful harmonies, the guys have
once again made the Memory Garden spirit comes to live.
The band supported the
release of "Mirage" by playing shows and festivals all over Europe
and by doing tons of interviews in magazines and radioshows all over
the world. They also participated on tribute albums for bands like
"Black Sabbath", "Mercyful Fate" & "Queensryche".
After the split with Metal
Blade Records, Memory Garden have been working hard on
writing new material for the upcoming release as well as doing shows
in Sweden. They have also recorded two new songs for a 7” vinyl
single called "Marion", released on their old label Heathendoom
Music in May 2004. In the summer of 2004 they also did an awesome
gig at the great “Sweden Rock Festival”.
Memory Garden has just
finished of the recording of their next full-length album "Carnage
Carnival" together with Mike Wead, using Mike & Simon’s
studio “Solnasound Recording” and their own studio "Annoying Sound
Factory" for the job. ‘Carnage Carnival’ will be released early 2007
through Vic Records. This album will surely take you even
deeper into the dark paths of Memory Garden...
Cover art will be done by
art master Hjules (Gravedigger, Sin of Kain, Annihilator).
The new album will have a
multi media section which includes a video clip of the song ‘Carnage
Carnival’. The video was made by Owe Lingvall (Nocturnal Rites
drummer) of Village Road Film who were responsible for all
Nocturnal Rites video’s and amongst others the Wolf and
Morgana Lefay video clips.
Vic Records
will also release re-issues of their since long sold out two first
albums “Forever” & “Tides”. Adding tons of bonus material and
re-mastering will make those two releases a must-have for every
metal fan. The albums were originally recorded at Fredman Studio
in Gothenburg, cover art will feature Kristian Wahlin and
Peter Sallai (Bloodgut, Forest Silence, DSD). Both albums are
remastered by Mike Wead (King Diamond / Mercyful Fate).
