Ribspreader was formed in 2004 and debuting
with the album 'Bolted To The Cross' for New Aeon Media (Karmageddon
Media sublabel), consists of Paganizer member, Roger ‘Rogga’
Johansson and Paganizer man Andreas ‘Dea’ Karlsson on guitar
(also in Another Life), along with the esteemed Dan Swanö
on drums and lead guitars. Swanö is respectedmusician in the Swedish
metal scene, having his involvement in acts as diverse as Unicorn,
PAN-THY-MONIUM, Godsend, Wounded Knee, Nightingale and Edge of
Sanity among others. Johansson, also a veteran of Dead Sun,
Blodsrit, Carve and guest vocalist for Deranged during
one of their European tours, was asked by Dan Swanö to do the lead
guest vocalist on the Edge of Sanity album 'Crimson II'.
Ribspreader
continued and recordedt a 2004 album at Soundlab Studios in Örebro,
named 'Congregating the Sick' for Holland's Karmageddon Media. The
band added This Haven bassist as their drummer: Johan
Berglund. In early 2005 Ribspreader had a drastic line-up
change, losing the services of Andreas Carlsson, Dan Swanö and
This Havens Johan Berglund.
Rogga Johansson however continued on vocals and
guitar and recruted bassist Patrik Halvarsson and drummer Mattias
Fiebig, all Paganizer members. Fiebig holds scene credits
with Portal, Dark Rites and Blodsrit.
Ribspreader signed
to Malaysian label Summers End Records for a 2006 album, 'Church Of
The Zombie (Re-Excavated Death)', this album would be restricted to
a limited edition of 600 copies. However, this release was lessened
due to the label fearing confiscation by government authorities.
Ribspreader
recorded the album 'Serenity In Obscenity' for Vic records early
2006 and had it produced by Dan Swanö. The recording line up
was Johansson on vocals, guitars and bass and Fiebig on drums. Cover
art was done by Juanjo Castellano (Incantation, Vomitory).
However, half a year after the recordings main
man Rogga did not feel that happy with the recording sessions.
Mainly because the style of the new album did not quite match with
the original Ribspreader style (although the album turned out
killer). This album will be released under a different moniker on
Vic Records to avoid confusion about the true Ribspreader
style and the more Unleashed style of 'Serenity In
Obscenity'.
Early 2007 Johansson decided to get Andreas ‘Dea’
Karlsson back in the band and returned to the good old
Ribspreader vibes of the first two albums. Winter 2007
Ribspreader guitarist Dea and Rogga will record a true
Ribspreader album, with the help of multi instrumentalist Ronnie
Björnström on drums.
The new, true third album will feature cover art
from Turkka who did the blasphemous art work for the Ribspreader
debut album.
Johansson formed Demiurg during 2006 and
released the Demiurg debut early 2007 on Holland’s Mascot
Records which got extremely positive critics and was very well
received.
