Since Edge Of Sanity was born during the
recording of the local hardcore heroes FZЦ, it came as no surprise
to the closest circle of friends that some of us eventually would
get around making that crust core album with Swedish lyrics. Benny
was always bugging us about No Security and with my involvement in
Wounded Knee I got to hear stuff like Totalitдr and also engineer a
lot with bands like Svart Snц and Anti-Bofors (a.k.a. Disfear).
The whole thing started with me and Benny Larsson going down to the
Unisound place (a.k.a. dusty, mouldy rehearsal room of Unicorn) and
we had formed a band (presumably drunk as fuck) called The
Pedestrians. This band lasted a few songs and the only official
noise we ever made was on the infamous Inavel compilation tape.
After yet another batch of local and national crust core bands
visiting Unisound I decided to bring the old ghost back to life and
me and Benny Larsson took the old Saab down to the headquarters once
again and this time around we were TOTAL TERROR!!
We recorded a demo consisting of the last 7 (???) songs on this
album and it became an instant underground classic. “Dц dе din
jдvel” (translated into something like, “So, die you bastard”)
fuelled with the hate for rapists.
After months of nothingness I decided to give it another go and
invited Dread (also in Edge Of Sanity) to join in on bass & vocals
to be able to write and cut the full length album more or less live
in the studio. Said and done, and one magic evening sometime 1994 we
wrote and bashed out these immortal classics of pure swe-crust.
Since both the studio and most of my bands were at an absolute all
time high in popularity (Edge Of Sanity won the prestigious "Band of
the year" award at the Zeppelin award the same year!!) the idea was
to shop around and see what label would be the most interested in
our new little project. I donґt really remember what happened, but
we never scored a deal with this album. The recording fell into
oblivion and I didnґt even have a tape-copy of it for a long time.
Around the time of the introduction of my swano.com page I remixed
and remastered stuff high and low, and re-found the love for the
Total Terror recordings. I remember doin the cover layout for the
record to be released on my own Spam Records, just for fun, but a
few days later 2 airplanes crashed into the twin towers and I felt
that unleashing an album called Total Terror at that time, was a bit
tasteless...
After numerous of attempts to remix the record I finally got the
sound I wanted during the summer of 2007. Vic records showed
interest and I compiled an album consisting of the demo and the full
lenght all bashed together. I spent 5 hours at an airport in Spain
trying to figure out what the fuck I was
singing/yelling/screaming/growling. I knew that I had kept the
original album lyrics somewhere, but I could not find it anywhere.
But after a few attempts to finally recreate the words I couldnґt
hear, I set off to my little shed in the back and searched it high
and low, and there, behind some other documents in a plastic folder,
I found the originals, typed and nice!! What I couldnґt find was the
demo lyrics, so there are some blanks in there that you will have to
figure out for yourself!!!
Well, hope that you enjoy listening as much as we did writing and
recording this stuff.
